Introducing Real Life Game Reviews

I review games based on their real life practicality. In the real world most people are not able to shut themselves in their room and play in solitude. Some aspects of games that are entertaining when played alone are plain annoying when someone is watching over your shoulder and commenting. You care about what people think about you when you play your games, so you need to know if you are capable of playing the game when you share a house with other people. You need to know if you can play the game in your precious free time.

I have therefore created several tests for each game. I have based these tests on people who are likely to be influenced by your gaming habits.

I have written several reviews that I will be releasing over the next few weeks based on the blogs popularity. Let me know what you think.

the GFThe Girlfriend test

This test is based on a girlfriend who thinks she has unlimited access to your time. Can you play the game while paying attention to your girlfriend? Can you go as far to turn off your console? Will her conversations with her mate on the phone result in the death of your character? If you do not have a girlfriend/boyfriend then see it as a test of time consumption.

You are playing the game and your housemate walks in and they are uneducated in gaming. This test is a mix of the coolness rating, pick-up-and-play-ability, and most importantly: same console multiplayer. Anything that could be called ‘gayyyyy’ loses points in this test. This is also known as the sibling test.

The Parent TestThe Parent test

This test is based on parents or any one else who is easily offended – especially by sexual themes and swearing; and at random intervals they invade your room.

You have had a bad day and you want to feel a sense of achievement. This section talks about how frustrating them game is.

I rate games on a number of factors such as graphics, storyline, entertainment and longevity; the real life tests are considered but they do not necessarily affect the final result.
